Now I don’t quiet remember what day this was on or what grade I was in, but I can remember being happy. Maybe it was after I graduated high school, but that’s beside the point! The point is, is that I was happy. I wasn’t happy because of a gift someone gave me, or because it was my birthday, or anything like that. It was just a typical weekend day. (How special can that be right?)
I remember hanging outside shooting hoops as I always do when I get bored. I guess some of the family decided to come over. Now usually, everyone doesn’t decide to come over unless we have something planned. I saw everyone come to the house, so my first thought was to see what was going on. To my surprise nothing was going on. The fam was just hanging out watching TV, talking back-and-fourth, so I just began to mess with people as I always do. (I’m not Marvin unless I’m messing with someone.) That’s really all we did that day. We just sat around and actually spent time with one another. (Nothing special, except the fact that we rarely do it since everyone stay busy with work.)
Even though it was nothing special about that day. I guess you can say it was special to me. It was a moment in life where I thought, “This is what we live for.” We don’t live for money or materialistic things in life. We live for each other. We live for moments where the little things mean everything. We live to create memories, memories that will last a lifetime, memories that will bring smiles to folks faces anytime they think about it wither they’re still with us or up in a better place.
I think it was that day where I discovered my world. (My world being my loved ones.) I realized that no matter what I did or what I acquired in life, it wouldn’t mean much if I didn’t have them to share it with. I could have the best of the best in life, but in my reality I wouldn’t, because I wouldn’t have them. They truly make me who I am and everything I do is for them; therefore, making them my world.
